The HARVISHER®
The submerged unit of our ground breaking ocean technology is called the HARVISHER®. It is the key to facilitating the possibilities of harvesting from the ocean in a balanced manner.
“Balanced harvest is an important concept that has been proposed to reduce fishing impact on ecosystems while simultaneously maintaining or even increasing fishery yield”- (Zhou et al. 2019). HARVISH® is designed to be “plug-and-play” and can be operated from any kind of vessel. In addition to the submerged unit, HARVISH® consists of an umbilical reel to supply power and communication to the HARVISHER®, a hose reel to bring the catch alive onboard and the topside control unit with integrated video feeds. HARVISH® ocean technology has been developed, is owned and patented by Norwegian Innovation Technology Group AS (organisation number 914 587 409 and available for licensing to anyone who would like to take advantage of the unique opportunities to sustainably HARVISH® zooplankton and other mesopelagic species.
The main technology elements of HARVISH®:
Use of bioluminescence to attract the catch. HARVISH® uses the frequency that a species naturally emits itself to attract it to the HARVISHER®, by utilising interchangeable light sources. Different species are attracted by different wavelengths.
Use of subsea technology to locate and transport the catch onto the vessel. Inspired by ROV technology used in the offshore industry - eco sounder, sonar, camera, winches, hose, umbilical and pump.
